Madam Secretary Clinton - for someone tagged the smartest woman in the world, you have just besmirched that characterization by doing a very dumb thing.
The U. S. State Department you head is preparing a report to file with the esteemed (I use that term facetiously) Human Rights Council of the United Nations asking it to review Arizona's immigration law, now on hold after the same Obama Administration filed suit to enjoin the law from going into effect at the end of July.
I might point out this is the same U. N. Human Rights Council whose membership includes such bastions of human rights advocacy as Cuba, Libya and Saudi Arabia.
What were you thinking, Madam Secretary? How deeply you and the Obama Administration have embarrassed our country and its citizens - citizens, I might add, who pay the lion's share of support to keep the doors of the United Nations open.
The State Department contends the action it took to thwart the implementation of the Arizona law is an example of how the United States is protecting human rights.
What?
No where in its braggadocio report to the U. N. is it noted that the Arizona law was amended to mirror federal immigration law. Which makes this latest fauxpas by the Obama Administration even more troubling and embarrassing.
Arizona's feisty Governor Jan Brewer calls the State Department's report "outrageous." I cannot think of a better word to describe the State Department's action.

ILLEGALS ONE - AMERICANS ZERO
Justice was ill-served today.
A Bill Clinton appointee to the federal bench, Susan Bolton, issued an Obama Administration-sought injunction against key parts of the new Arizona Immigration Law, known as SB 1070, rendering the new law impotent.
Arizona law enforcement officers are enjoined from asking about immigration status if a person is detained on a traffic or criminal violation.
Judge Bolton also struck down two other key parts of the Arizona law - a provision making it a crime for an illegal alien to seek or perform work; and no one, including visitors or illegals, are required to carry immigration papers.
Since the Arizona law mirrored almost identically federal immigration laws, it would appear the good judge has also enjoined federal law enforcement agents from enforcing those same provisions of federal jurisdiction.
But, since the Department of Justice argued that the federal government does not have the resources to enforce federal immigration laws anyway, it appears to be a moot point.
With nearly 11% of Hoosiers out of a job, if an illegal is hired instead of them, I guess that's okay. Unlike other countries, including Mexico, if you enter this country illegally you are not going to have to prove a valid reason for being here, according to Judge Bolton.
Which takes us back to 9/11 when most of the 19 terrorist-killers were here on over-stayed student visas and driving around on fake licenses. Unfortunately for nearly 3,000 victims, nobody questioned their papers either.
Federal attorneys admit the government cannot enforce its own laws, that the Arizona law would "overwhelm federal agencies" and thereby trump federal law.
This is lunacy.
Here are a few suggestions, Mr. President and members of Congress, that might help federal agents be less overwhelmed:
1. Build a fence from Brownsville to San Diego, a big, high fence, just like the Israeli's did to protect their people from terrorists. Drop the union-only provisions. By doing so, a lot of Americans could be back to work, paying taxes, and lowering current outlays for unemployment.
2. While real security fences are built along both the southern and northern borders of this nation, declare a one-year moratorium on all immigration. That would allow the federal government time to hire and train an immigration enforcement force big enough to handle overwhelming problems now being experienced.
3. Outlaw sanctuary cities and hold accountable government and church officials, including priests, nuns, etc., who provide sanctuary for illegals. This is not medieval Europe where sanctuary was part of both law and tradition. No where in the American Constitution is there a provision for sanctuary.
4. Pass a federal law eliminating automatic American citizenship for anyone born in this country when neither parent is a citizen of the United States by birth or naturalization. The 14th amendment to the constitution was established to ensure citizenship for African slaves and their progeny following the Civil War. Slavery had been a shameful part of this nation's history for more than two centuries until Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. That proclamation granted slaves their freedom, but it took the 14th amendment to insure their rightful place as American citizens. The amendment was not intended to cover illegal aliens who sneak across our borders to bear babies in our hospitals, at taxpayer's expense, so they can have an "anchor baby" to help keep them in this country.
5. Get this matter to the Supreme Court and quickly. Common sense has generally prevailed in most of its recent decisions. Maybe the high court can finally end the lunacy that is our immigration policy and force Congress to adopt reforms that welcome legal immigrants who learn English and meet the requirements for citizenship; provide a guest worker program for those who have trouble finding livelihoods in their own countries; and swiftly deport those who break our laws by coming to this great nation illegally.
We are a nation of immigrants. We can continue to be. But not when the political goals of liberal politicians circumvent immigration laws to secure another voting block. And not when an inept and corrupt congress fails to demand full enforcement of the laws already written.
These narcissistic political goals and enforcement failures endanger every American by the threat of terrorists sneaking across our porous, and poorly protected borders.

AMNESTY AGAIN?
Interesting how much of what Barach Obama had to say about illegal immigration is what we all heard from his predecessor - and vociferously rejected. So vociferous was the opposition to amnesty for illegal aliens that even Senator John McCain, a leading voice for the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007, which included amnesty for 11-million or so illegals (but who's counting), finally cried uncle and dropped his support.
As usual, Obama was long on rhetoric and short on specifics. No mention of building high fences. No mention of sending the military to the border. No need. Obama proclaimed the border with Mexico is safer than it has ever been.
Really, Mr. President! You might want to schedule a nose reduction job after that statement.
Especially after nearly two-dozen people were killed the very next day in a shoot-out between rival drug and human smuggling gangs in Nogales, Mexico, just 12 miles from the Arizona border.
Despite threats of federal lawsuits and economic boycotts, Arizona and its feisty governor, Jan Brewer, are not bowing to intimidation and are forging ahead with enforcing illegal immigration laws that Obama and his administration refuse to enforce.
Arizona's neighbor to the east, New Mexico, seems impervious to all the border violence and drain on its state coffers by illegal immigration. Under the leadership of Democrat Gov. Bill Richardson, a Hispanic and himself an anchor baby, New Mexico issues drivers licenses to undocumented aliens. Better yet, the state awards college scholarships to the children of those illegal aliens.
Now that's the way to secure the Hispanic vote! I wonder if any of those licensed-to-drive and well educated illegals cast ballots? Just wondering!
And Richardson is doing all this for illegal aliens despite a 76-million dollar shortfall in state revenues, according to The New Mexico Independent. But not to worry, New Mexicans! The good governor is counting on 200-million in federal stimulus dollars to make everything fiscally right in the budget year that just began.
I would like to earmark my tax dollars going to New Mexico. Do not use them for supporting the agency that issues drivers licenses to illegals and the universities that give free rides to illegals.

HOW LOW CAN WE GO
Yesterday's appearance by Mexican President Felipe Calderon before a joint session of Congress should be an affront to every thinking American. Which may explain why the Democrat side of the aisle leaped to its collective feet in exuberant applause after Calderon parroted President Obama and asserted the new Arizona illegal immigration law would violate civil rights of Mexicans in that state illegally.
Republicans should have acted like thinking Americans and walked out. Instead, they held their applause, but remained fixed in their seats. Which is unfortunate.
Calderon also claimed that America must share the blame for the drug violence on the Mexican-American border and admonished Congress for not passing a comprehensive immigration reform bill.
Whoa, Amigo! We don't need your advice on American domestic policy.
I would love to know which group of Obama speech writers wrote the words that were spouted by this leader of a chronic third world country that, despite having big income from its rich oil resources, remains mired in violence and corruption, and its people remain mired in poverty.
El Presidente Calderon apparently hasn't read the Arizona law either, an oversight he shares with Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano.
Both Obama cabinet officials have denounced the Arizona bill as a civil rights violation waiting to happen. Holder even huffed and puffed about filing suit against the Arizona law on grounds it violates the U. S. Constitution
What Obama, Holder, Napolitano and Calderon all appear ignorant of is a 1975 Supreme Court decision which ruled under federal immigration law police can demand to see the identification of anyone, whether or not that person is stopped for reasonable suspicion, a small civil rights protection tucked into the Arizona law, but not required in federal law.
There is only one reason the White House red carpet was rolled out for Calderon. Votes! Obama is trying to impress Latino voters in this country by hosting a state dinner for the Calderon's and giving the Mexican President the ultimate platform of a joint session of Congress which he used to insult this nation.
I hope another traditional Democrat block vote was taking note - American Jews. Obama went out of his ill-mannered way to snub the Prime Minister of Israel recently, the leader of a progressive and productive nation and our only reliable middle eastern ally.
There is something very wrong with this foreign policy picture.
